Mental Health
Mission Statement
Increasing access and education regarding mental health services is essential to ensure those in need get the right resources and to ensure more citizens are educated on how to respond to a peer crisis.
I took an interest in medicine early on, getting my phlebotomist certification at the start of the pandemic and shifting my scope of focus towards psychological-oriented care. I began working at Aurora Behavioral Health Center San Diego in 2021 and became more interested in the clinical field. Along the way, I applied to work and volunteer as a harm-reduction specialist and psychedelic peer supporter for festivals with Ground Control at Insomniac Events, RGX Medical, and Zendo Project and as a crisis hotline operator with the California Coalition for Youth. I use my experience to improve my ability to help others and propel me toward a profession in mental health.
Restoring health, hope and a positive future, Aurora Behavioral Health Care San Diego is an 101-bed, private, full service behavioral healthcare facility, located in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area of Rancho Bernardo in northern San Diego County. The facility provides a variety of inpatient, day treatment and outpatient services for San Diego, and its surrounding county areas. Aurora San Diego is a leader in the delivery of evidence based, outcome driven care as illustrated in the development of our PRIDE Initiative: Professional Responsibility In Daily Endeavors. Aurora San Diego provides inpatient behavioral health and chemical dependency services for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Additionally, Aurora San Diego provides award winning specialized evidenced based treatment programs to United States active duty service members and their family members stationed throughout the world.
We know that individuals have different needs and we provide individualized treatment for a variety of presenting conditions. Specialized programs include: Inpatient Programs, Outpatient Programs (Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization), Chemical Dependency Services (Inpatient Detoxification and Rehabilitation, and Outpatient Programs), and programming for individuals who struggle with Dual Diagnosis.
Today’s Youth are faced with a myriad of complex and difficult issues and often lack an adequate support system to transition successfully into adulthood. In response, The California Coalition for Youth (CCY) provides strong statewide policy leadership around issues concerning disconnected runaway and homeless youth and provides direct support to youth and families through our program, the California Youth Crisis Line.
Since its founding in 2011, thousands of people from all walks of life have put on a purple shirt to represent Ground Control - Insomniac's Guardian Angels. Ground Control is committed to keeping people safe, being a friend to those in need, and reminding our community that it's okay to ask for help. They are brought together by a collective motivation to give our Headliners the best experience possible in every capacity.
You can find Ground Control in their signature purple shirts, checking on everyone and helping those in need. You can find them throughout the festival grounds, entrance areas, parking lots, first aid tents, and water stations. You can also pay them a visit at the Oasis, Ground Control's dedicated safe space, at all major festivals. If you ever need help, a friend, or simply someone to talk to, do not hesitate to ask them. They are your friends and they are here for you.
We understand that festivals can be overwhelming and overstimulating for attendees and individuals may need a space to process challenging experiences or have a quiet respite to calm down and gather their thoughts and feelings. RGX Medical’s harm reduction team offers 24-hour peer support counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health services.
The Zendo Project provides professional comprehensive harm reduction education and support for communities to help inform and transform difficult psychedelic experiences into opportunities for learning and growth.
We envision a world where communities are educated, resourced, and engaged in applying harm reduction principles to support individuals exploring psychedelic states; recognizing that challenging experiences can be opportunities for self-exploration and healing.
